THE CULT, NIGHTWISH, ANOTHER ANIMAL, PRONG: First-Week U.S. Sales Revealed

The following are notable heavy metal/hard rock U.S. sales debuts for the week ending October 7, 2007, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan (all CD figures are rounded to the nearest hundred [except numbers over 20,000, which are rounded to the nearest thousand]; The Billboard 200 chart position included, where applicable):

THE CULT – "Born into This: 12,600 (#70)
NIGHTWISH – "Dark Passion Play": 10,800 (#84)
ANOTHER ANIMAL – "Another Animal": 3,400
PRONG – "Power of the Damager": 1,400

NIGHTWISH's previous album, "Once", opened with first-week U.S. sales of 3,000 back in October 2004. Meanwhile, PRONG's "Scorpio Rising", which came out in North America in February 2004 — several months after it was relesed in Europe — premiered with 1,500 copies.
