THE CULT Signs With ROADRUNNER RECORDS

May 29, 2007

THE CULT has signed with Roadrunner Records, according to Billboard.com. The group's first new album since 2001's Atlantic set "Beyond Good and Evil" will be released Sept. 25 in conjunction with its own New Wilderness imprint. The as-yet-untitled set is being recorded in London with producer Youth. An official press release announcing the Roadrunner deal is expected later today.

THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy told ChartAttack.com back in March, "We've got some ideas [for a new CD] down, circulating. Each album gets its own life and while it's early to really tell with this one because it's in the formative stages, it still feels trashy and sort of ramshackle, which I like. [Singer] Ian [Astbury] isn't singing with THE DOORS anymore and I think that's lifted his spirits for a CULT record, too."

THE CULT has lined up the following European tour dates:

Jun. 05 - Rotterdam, Netherlands, Ahoy (w/ THE WHO)
Jun. 06 - Paris, France, Palais Omnisports de Bercy (w/ THE WHO)
Jun. 07 - London, England, CC Club
Jun. 09 - Fulda, Germany, Airfield (w/ THE WHO)
Jun. 10 - Torino, Italy, Colonia Sonora Festival
Jun. 12 - Zurich, Switzerland, Volkshaus
Jun. 13 - Munich, Germany, Olympiahalle (w/ THE WHO)
Jun. 14 - Rome, Italy, EUR Open Air
Jun. 16 - Leipzig, Germany, Messerhalle (w/ THE WHO)
Jun. 17 - Amsterdam, Netherlands, Melkweg
Jun. 19 - Oberhausen, Germany, Konig-Pilsner Arena (w/ THE WHO)

Jun. 25 - Budapest, Hungary Margareth Island Open Air
Jun. 26 - Vienna, Austria, Planet Music
