THE DARKNESS Cancels Danish Festival Appearance
August 10, 2006British rockers THE DARKNESS were forced to cancel their appearance at the Skanderborg Festival in Denmark today (Thursday, August 10) after the group's frontman, Justin Hawkins, was taken ill. The band's official statement on the matter reads as follows:
"We regret to inform you that Justin has had to see a doctor today and yesterday and that the doctor has ordered him in no uncertain terms to take some time off. Therefore THE DARKNESS will not be able to fulfil their commitment to perform at [Thursday's] Skanderborg Festival in Denmark. The band are very sorry that this is happening but Justin's health must come first.
"His doctor's statement is as follows: 'It is of paramount importance that he [Justin] rests and recuperates over the next two weeks. I have advised him to cancel all professional commitments or work-related activities.'
"We will have more information tomorrow and will update you as soon as we know more.
"Please accept our sincere apologies on behalf of THE DARKNESS."
THE DARKNESS's second studio album, "One Way Ticket to Hell …and Back", was released last November. The album was the follow-up to THE DARKNESS' 2003 debut, "Permission to Land" (Must Destroy/Atlantic),which was certified gold in the United States for sales in excess of half a million copies.
