THE DARKNESS Frontman Happy To Remove 'Tumor' FRANKIE POULLAIN
August 8, 2005THE DARKNESS frontman Justin Hawkins recently spoke with Kerrang! magazine about the rift that caused basist Frankie Poullain's departure in March. "It was like having a tumor and you're doing your best to over-compensate, saying, 'Hey it's like having an extra arm," Hawkins explained. "But at the end of the day when you get rid of it, you're a lot happier."
THE DARKNESS in June named Richie Edwards as their full-time bass player. For the past two years, Edwards has toured extensively with the band as their guitar technician, according to Billboard.com. The former ONION TRUMP member has also assisted THE DARKNESS with their equipment in the studio throughout the recording of their as-yet-untitled new album.
In other news, the first video from Hawkins' upcoming solo project, BRITISH WHALE, has made it way online. Performed, recorded and produced entirely by THE DARKNESS frontman, "This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the Both of Us" is a cover of the 1974 hit by SPARKS, who appear in the clip. The single is scheduled for release on August 15. Check out the video: Real Media (High, Low),Windows Media (High, Low).
