THE DARKNESS Frontman Held By NYC Cops In Case Of Mistaken Identity
December 4, 2003The New York Post is reporting that Justin Hawkins, lead singer for the British "glam rock" band THE DARKNESS, nearly missed a coveted cover shoot for Spin magazine the other day after cops held him for two hours at Kennedy Airport. Police were looking for a wanted criminal coincidentally named Justin Hawkins who bears a passing resemblance to the singer. Hawkins was released after his manager showed cops a tour schedule which proved Hawkins was playing in England on July 4, when the other Hawkins allegedly committed his crime. The singing Hawkins, whose bombastic "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", is drawing comparisons to vintage QUEEN, later dined at Nobu.
