THE DARKNESS Frontman Will Only Speak To Former Bassist Through His Lawyer

July 26, 2005

THE DARKNESS frontman Justin Hawkins has told the U.K.'s The Mirror that he will only speak to sacked bassist Frankie Poullain through his lawyer. "I don't know what Frankie is trying to do but we only communicate now through our lawyers," he revealed. "We used to be good friends but that certainly isn't the case any more."

Last month Frankie, 33, claimed he was axed from the band by Justin and his fiancée and band manager Sue Whitehouse.

Since then the feud has escalated and Justin has said he never wants to speak to his former bandmate again.

He said: "Frankie used to be our bass player and now he's not — it's not a soap opera."

THE DARKNESS last month named Richie Edwards as their full-time bass player. For the past two years, Edwards has toured extensively with the band as their guitar technician, according to Billboard.com. The former ONION TRUMP member has also assisted THE DARKNESS with their equipment in the studio throughout the recording of their as-yet-untitled new album.
