THE DEFACED Announce New Singer, Continue Work On New Album
October 4, 2005THE DEFACED, the Swedish band featuring DARKANE/TERROR 2000 guitarist Klas Ideberg, have posted the following message on their official web site:
"Here's how it goes. It's time to put the cards on the table… There's been a hell of a lot of downtime, but now the time has come to fill you all in on what we've been up to.
"We'll start with the down parts: Early this year we finished recording the follow-up to 'Karma in Black' [2003, Scarlet Records]. As soon as the album was done, quite badly timed, both Henry [Ranta, drums] and Henke [Henrik Sjowall, vocals] decided to quit the band, both because of personal reasons. Henke left because he'd got a child and Henry's got married.
"So what's up, we figured, congrats and godspeed, it doesn't change a thing for THE DEFACED! Needless to say, this took a big chunk out of everything that we were up to. We just needed to lean back a little bit to get our heads straight and for that reason, the silence. Then Klas recorded DARKANE's new album and Matte [Mattias Svensson, guitar] recorded KAYSER's debut album. This also contributed to the silence, but really we also needed time off from the hectic recordings to get focused again.
"Now for the good parts: Jens Broman [CONSTRUCDEAD, HATELIGHT] is recruited as the new singer of THE DEFACED and man, he does the job well, we can tell you that. He will for sure add new exciting dimensions to our sound as the great singer he is. A couple of weeks ago, a totally insane Italian crowd got a preview of what the band sounds like with him, awesome! The drummer situation isn't settled yet, but until we get a permanent drummer, Bob Ruben of KAYSER will lend his duties on occasion.
"So, what about the new album then? As you all can imagine we didn't put a lot of effort into shopping for a new label until we knew which way to head with new members and so on. We're now anxious to tell you that we'll re-record the vocals and re-mix the entire thing this December. After that we'll head out, on full frontal to get a label to release it. We're damn excited to get it done and get the album out there. It's going to rawk like nothing else.
"In addition to this, we're also proud to announce that we will start working with I'm With The Band Productions, who will handle all our management duties. Brilliant!
"Thanks for the cool support and keep checking back for further updates. Stronger than ever!"
