THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA To Play Benefit Show In Pittsburgh
August 24, 2010Headlining a concert in Pittsburgh for the first time, Dayton, Ohio Christian metalcore band THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA will play a benefit show at Mr. Smalls on Friday, September 3 as part of its "Back to The Roots" tour. All proceeds from the show will go to the Acadiana Outreach Center, a Lafayette, Louisiana-based organization that assists members of the community who are in need. Tickets are priced at $15 and can be purchased online at Ticketweb.com or at the venue's box office.
"We've done only one benefit show as a band, and that was back in the beginning," said THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA's frontman Mike Hranica. "We wanted to do something for someone other than ourselves, to work with an organization that was relevant, that people could relate to, and Acadiana Outreach fit that bill."
The Acadiana Outreach Center provides critical recovery services — access to housing, addiction treatment, food and clothing, and meaningful employment — through faith-based programs. The Center has been very active in helping to rebuild the community, especially since Hurricane Katrina, and has implemented an innovative program where people use scrap from damaged homes — such as windows, door frames and other discarded material - and convert it into usable furniture and art pieces.
"We really like that Acadiana Outreach goes beyond just putting a band-aid on a situation," Hranica added, "by helping people get back on their feet permanently and get their lives back."
