THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Frontman Talks About His SOULFLY Collaboration
December 18, 2009THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN vocalist Greg Puciato recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine about his collaboration with Max Cavalera for the forthcoming SOULFLY album.
"We've toured in the States with the CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and I've seen that guy around forever," said Puciato. "We played at the DEFTONESChi Cheng benefit shows and I did the Maynard (James Keenan) part on 'Passenger' and he said, 'Man, you did an awesome job on that song and we're tracking vocals on (SOULFLY's) new album. Would you want to lay something down?'
"I said yes and the next day he called and asked if I would come in tomorrow!" chuckled Puciato. "I laughed and said, 'Yeah, can you send me the song?' and he said, 'No, we're just going to write it together! I don't even have vocals yet' I thought I was going to be handed a lyric sheet and I'd just sing a couple of lines but we ended up going in and writing the entire song together in about three hours."
