THE ETERNAL Sign With FIREBOX RECORDS
November 4, 2003Australia's THE ETERNAL (formerly CRYPTAL DARKNESS) have signed a two-album deal with Finland's Firebox Records. The group will be entering the studio in January 2004 to record their debut CD, titled "The Sombre Light Of Isolation". A late spring release is expected.
THE ETERNAL recorded three full-length albums and two EPs as CRYPTAL DARKNESS, including "They Whispered You Had Risen" and "Chapter II: The Fallen", which featured Martin Powell of MY DYING BRIDE/CRADLE OF FILTH fame on violins and keyboards. As a result of problems with label Icon Records and line-up troubles, the band decided to change their name to THE ETERNAL.
THE ETERNAL's sound can be best described as a symphonic and emotional journey, heavy melodic guitars layered with ambient keyboards and somber vocals. By no means your average doomy-sounding band, THE ETERNAL have taken their sound further, breaking boundaries set by metal genres and incorporating various influences to give the songs an almost catchy feel. However this does not take away from the band's traditional atmospheric sound. The band explore soundscapes that in their early days as CRYPTAL DARKNESS may not have been accessible to them.
