THE HAUNTED Frontman To Detractors: I F**ked Your Sister And She Came Back For Seconds

December 14, 2006

PyroMusic.net recently conducted an interview with THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

PyroMusic.net: "The Dead Eye" has been in stores for a little while now. Have you been surprised by the reaction to the record in any way, particularly from the press?

Peter Dolving: Positive mostly. We knew we giong out on a limb on this one. Not because it's a huge step musically or anything, but it is never the less a record that steps away from purist thrash and death metal. I think we have a pretty good relationship to press and media over all. It is what it is you know — we do our thing and they do theirs. Our thing being music...

PyroMusic.net: Fan reaction, as is often the case, seems to have been mixed if the Internet reaction is any indication. Have you gone online much, if at all, to read some of the responses that fans have had to the new album?

Peter Dolving: I spend a couple of hours a day online working. The Internet as such can be way too impersonal and I think especially really young people kinda lose scope of reality in that. Harsh things are said that out in the real world would leave you bleeding in the gutter chewing your own ribs.

PyroMusic.net: On your previous releases, there have always been a number of songs written by Jensen, in addition to a fair amount written by Jonas and Anders. One significant change on "The Dead Eye" is that Jensen is not credited in the songwriting for any of the material. Was this a conscious change in regards to your songwriting direction for "The Dead Eye", or was it just that this group of songs written were the best available at the time?

Peter Dolving: Jensen had so much to take care of and deal with in his personal life during the time of writing "The Dead Eye", simple as that. THE HAUNTED, as a band, I guess we are pretty easy-going like that. I mean everyone in this band is a human being, we're a family and there's never been rules who has be where and when. This time Jensen had stuff to do, so he did that.

PyroMusic.net: You've become a bit of an online celebrity due to your MySpace blogs, which always receive a ton of discussion on sites like Blabbermouth. Do you think that some people have gained a false perception of you from these online activities, and maybe talk shit about the band merely because they don't agree with some of your views on various topics?

Peter Dolving: Don't know, don't care. Our band is stronger than that. Whether people like what I have to say or not really is not about the band. If someone's going to use my big mouth to throw shit at THE HAUNTED that only proves that they'd jump at any chance. Fuck them. I fucked their sister and she came back for seconds, brought a friend and we took pictures and made some art. Next time mom's coming too.
