THE OSBOURNES Continues To Dominate MTV Viewership

May 1, 2002

The Osbournes, the reality sitcom about former BLACK SABBATH frontman Ozzy Osbourne and his colorful family life, drew 7.75 million viewers with last week's episode, up from an average of 6.3 million viewers a week earlier, according to an article published in the New York Daily News.

The Osbournes is officially the biggest hit series in MTV's 21-year history, outdrawing favorites like The Real World and Road Rules. Having drawn a 5.2 rating according to Nielsen Media Research, the April 23rd episode also beat out WWF wrestling for the second consecutive week.

Only one episode of The Osbournes remains, with the final one set to broadcast on May 7th. MTV will continue to air reruns of the show in the 10:30 PM timeslot after next week. MTV and the Osbournes are still in negotiations about filming a second season.
