THE SATURNINE Is Back
January 7, 2010Dutch melancholic rockers THE SATURNINE have returned from near death. The band — which was formed in 2004 by former DAEONIA leader and current STREAM OF PASSION guitar player Eric Hazebroek, bass player Douwe de Wilde, and drummer Dennis Leeflang — has decided to make 2010 the year of its comeback, with live shows to be announced and new material in the works .
THE SATURNINE features members that have played with DETONATION, FUELBLOODED, STREAM OF PASSION, DAEONIA, MANIFEST, SUN CAGED, WITHIN TEMPTATION and THE COMEBACK. In between the individual members' busy schedules, the group has started recording new songs, old songs in new arrangements, and "some nice extras," according to a press release. These recordings will be "slowly unleash[ed]" starting this spring.
THE SATURNINE, which also features guitar player extraordinaire Danny Tunker and vocalist Sander v/d Thillart, is psyched about this new lease on life and will celebrate this joyous event by playing several live shows in The Netherlands between February 26 and March 7.
Unfortunately, Dennis Leeflang (who lives in New York City) is unable to join the band for these shows, but THE SATURNINE's good friend Martijn Peters (STREAM OF PASSION, ex-NOVACT) will "keep the drum seat warm."
Upcoming THE SATURNINE dates:
Feb. 27 - Escape, Veenendaal, NETH (w/ STREAM OF PASSION)
Feb. 28 - Brothers of Beer, Leiden, NETH
Mar. 06 - P60, Amstelveen, NETH
