THE SPEARS To Release Full-Length Debut This Summer

January 13, 2009

THE SPEARS, the St. Petersburg, Florida-based band featuring Chris Barrows (PINK LINCOLNS) on vocals, Sam Williams (DOWN BY LAW) on guitar, Rob Rampy (D.R.I.) on drums and Gary Strickland (HATED YOUTH) on bass, is planning to release its full-length debut in June/July via Jailhouse! Records. The CD will feature "14 tracks of hardcore/punk rock, laced with some pop punk influence," according to a press release. The album title as well as track listing and artwork will be disclosed sometime in February.

THE SPEARS was formed in 2006 as a group of friends from several seminal punk/hardcore bands from the Tampa area. The original idea was to write some songs, and to play a few local gigs to kill some off time from their full-time bands. In 2007 they were approached to record three tracks for a 7" EP titled "People Are Bad". After the success of the record as well as sold-out shows in and around Florida, they decided to make THE SPEARS a full time project.
