THE TAZ TAYLOR BAND Featuring GRAHAM BONNET: New Album Due This Summer

March 20, 2006

THE TAZ TAYLOR BAND have inked a deal with Escape Music for the release of their new album, "Welcome to America". The CD, which features legendary hard rock vocalist Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, MSG, ALCATRAZZ) on eight songs, is tentatively due this summer. Originally, Graham was set to appear as a guest on just four songs, with another guest singing on four more. However, the chemistry in the songwriting and the combination of Graham's voice and Taz' guitar was undeniable. Two instrumentals round things out on the new album, which marks the first release for Taylor since his highly acclaimed instrumental debut, "Caffeine Racer", in 2004.

Taz was born and raised just outside Birmingham, England. As soon as he heard the two singles "Since You've Been Gone" and "All Night Long" by Ritchie Blackmore's RAINBOW from the 1979 album "Down to Earth", he knew he wanted to play guitar. A little while later he heard the live album "Strangers in The Night" by UFO. This album featured, of course, German guitar legend Michael Schenker. From that moment on Taz' life was changed forever. Schenker's impeccable technique, combined with beautiful phrasing and heartfelt emotion became the soundtrack to his life.

Says Taz, "I have never tried to copy Schenker, and in truth don't know any of his songs. I have never attempted to learn his pieces note for note as they are too sacred, and it would spoil the magic if I could play them! I merely hold up his tone, technique, emotion, etc as an ideal. If I do sound like him at all, it is because we are both trying to do the same thing."
