THE VASELINE RATS Bassist Says He Was Never Approached To Join THE DARKNESS

June 15, 2005

THE VASELINE RATS bassist Pete Emms has issued a statement denying "rumors" that have been circulating suggesting that he has been approached to replace Frankie Poullain in the U.K. band THE DARKNESS. Says Pete: "It's amazing how the rumor machine can suddenly kick in. THE DARKNESS are a great band and great ambassadors for British rock, but deny I've been approached by Sue Whitehouse or anyone in THE DARKNESS camp! After spending a lot of time in the States and getting the new lineup I'm concentrating on putting a new management team and label around us and currently looking at offers that continue to come in!"

As previously reported, THE VASELINE RATS will be touring England over the summer and Europe in the fall. The trek will be one of their first in the U.K. after THE VASELINE RATS made their debut mid-2004 with a tour of the U.S. as part of a celebration of 20 years of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal with Al Atkins (JUDAS PRIEST),Jess Cox (TYGERS OF PAN TANG) and Dennis Stratton (IRON MAIDEN, PRAYING MANTIS).

THE VASELINE RATS are currently teaming up in the studio with original JUDAS PRIEST vocalist and founder member Al Atkins to work on his fifth solo album, entitled "Demon Deceiver". Recent material recorded with Atkins also features DIAMOND HEAD guitarist Brian Tatler on a blistering new track called "Blood Demons and Whiskey".
