THE WILDHEARTS Frontman Talks About Joining MICHAEL MONROE's New Band

February 4, 2010

THE WILDHEARTS frontman Ginger talked to Mayra Dias Gomes of SPIN Eearth about putting the band on hold in 2010 and joining in as a guitarist for former HANOI ROCKS frontman Michael Monroe's new solo project. The chat, which was conducted late last month, can be viewed below.

In addition to Ginger, Michael Monroe's band features bassist Sami Yaffa, who has played with a remarkable variety of bands including HANOI ROCKS, NEW YORK DOLLS and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS, and guitarist Todd Youth, the master fretman who has played with many top-tier hard rock ensembles, including DANZIG, MOTÖRHEAD, GLEN CAMPBELL, SAMHAIN, D GENERATION and most recently CHELSEA SMILES. Rounding out the band is drummer Jimmy Clark, whose resume includes providing rhythm for the likes of Deborah Harry (who would later introduce him to Michael Monroe),JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS, GLEN BURTNICK, RICK DERRINGER, WYNONNA, BLACKHAWK and THE VAN ZANT BROTHERS. Jimmy also played in Michael's band DEMOLITION 23 which also included Sami Yaffa.

THE WILDHEARTS' ninth studio album, "Chutzpah!", was released in August 2009 via Backstage Alliance (distributed through Cargo).

Recorded in Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BRONX, THE STORM),"Chutzpah!" was described by Ginger as "unlike any [LP] that we've made so far." Bassist Scott Sorry added, "This album is not only my favorite WILDHEARTS record, but it's one of my favorite records to have ever been a part of."
