THIN LIZZY Frontman Gets 'Chinatown' Tattoo On His Chest

May 4, 2011

THIN LIZZY frontman Ricky Warwick is in the process of having the artwork from the back of the band's iconic "Chinatown" album tattooed on his chest (see photo below).

Commented the group: "Well, you may recognize the design but you might not recognize the chest it adorns! The design is Jim FitzPatrick's creation from the back cover of 'Chinatown' (1980),[and] the chest belongs to our very own Ricky Warwick! This is phase I of Ricky's newest ink and in a few short weeks it will be ablaze with color Stay tuned."

Ricky's tattoo is being done by the very talented Kevin Hinton of Riptide Tattoo in Marina Del Rey, California.

"Chinatown" was the tenth studio album by Irish band THIN LIZZY. It introduced guitarist Snowy White who also performed on the follow-up LP and toured with the group between 1980 and 1982. "Chinatown" also featured seventeen-year-old keyboardist Darren Wharton, who subsequently joined THIN LIZZY as a permanent member.

THIN LIZZY has tapped guitarist Richard Fortus from GUNS N' ROSES as the temporary replacement for Vivian Campbell for all THIN LIZZY live shows while Vivian is back touring and recording with DEF LEPPARD.

Vivian's last show with THIN LIZZY will be at Slane Castle in Ireland on May 28.
