TIGERTAILZ Joined By Female Bassist

January 20, 2010

Long-running U.K. glam rockers TIGERTAILZ have announced the addition of female bassist Sarah Firebrand to the group's ranks.

Commented the band: "We think she's an amazing find and we're sure all you TAILZ maniacs will be welcoming her to our insane world as warmly as we have. It also means that the average age of the band has dropped considerably — that's right, we're officially getting younger.

"As most of you will know, Glen 'Nailz' Quinn has been helping us out on bass since we lost Pepsi [Tate] so tragically in September 2007. He stood in for Pepsi at a very difficult time for everyone, and was an absolute marvel."

Said guitarist Jay Pepper: "It's thanks to Nailz that we were able to carry on — as Pepsi wanted us to. Now we think it's time to get back to a full-band lineup, and we're all incredibly excited to have Sarah aboard. She is the injection of life we need, and the fans are going to love her...So with a toast to the future and much respect to the past, we give you the Firebrand!"

Sarah first grabbed headlines with the all-girl rock trio FIREBRAND and later played with FUZZBOX/GINGER AND THE SONIC CIRCUS singer Vix in her side project VIX N THE KIX.

Stated Firebrand: "I was only five when 'Bezerk' came out and it's an incredible honor to think that I'm now part of the band. It's a completely thrilling opportunity to which I'll be giving 100%. This is iconic British rock music unlike anything before or since, and I can't wait to tear it up on stage with these guys!"

As the U.K.'s answer to POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE, TIGERTAILZ was the only U.K.-based band of this ilk to dominate the U.K. charts at the end of the '80s with "Bezerk" hitting the U.K. Top 40 and a U.K. Top 5 live video release filmed in their hometown Cardiff, "Bezerk Live" and "Video Frenzy". With songs that became Top 40 hits and were so catchy you couldn't stop singing them for days, "Love Bomb Baby", "Noize Level Critical", "Heaven" and "Living Without You" all became good time party anthems of a generation, and have influenced some of the contemporary acts of today.
