TIGERTAILZ's JAY PEPPER Interviewed By UNDERKILLTV
December 1, 2009UnderkillTV conducted an interview with guitarist Jay Pepper of long-running U.K. glam rockers TIGERTAILZ when the band played at Vice, Swansea, U.K. on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Watch the chat below.
TIGERTAILZ recently launched its online TV channel at this location.
Commented Pepper: "When I was younger (a long time ago),I would have loved to see this kind of stuff from my fave bands.
"The clips already up on Tailz TV are really only a fraction of the stuff we've got filmed. The stuff on Pepsi's [Tate, late TIGERTAILZ bassist] various computers and drives alone will take forever to get through. Then it's a case of exporting all the stuff and putting it up there on the site. But we plan to put clips up there as often as we can so keep stopping by. We've also got shed-loads of live footage from all the shows we've done in recent years which we'll get up there [as soon as possible].
The section I'm most intrigued about is what all you people will think of the 'Tailzmania' section. We thought long and hard about whether or not to include this stuff — I'm glad to say we went for it and committed rock 'n' roll suicide..
"We've always had a really stupid sense of humour and I know you guys may not get all the stupid stuff we're on about. But what we wanted to show more than anything is that this band isn't some wank glam-type outfit trying to be all cool and L.A.-like. We're Welsh and act fucking stupid most of the time and very proud of it. Oh, and by the way, if you catch any of us using the word 'dude,' you can rest assured that our tongues are planted firmly inside our cheeks and we're clearly taking the piss out of each other. We're also bolloxed most of the time so that'll explain some of the carnage clips."
TIGERTAILZ performed its classic 1990 album "Bezerk" in its entirety on October 10 at London, England's Borderline.
As the U.K.'s answer to POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE, TIGERTAILZ was the only U.K.-based band of this ilk to dominate the U.K. charts at the end of the '80s with "Bezerk" hitting the U.K. Top 40 and a U.K. Top 5 live video release filmed in their hometown Cardiff, "Bezerk Live" and "Video Frenzy". With songs that became Top 40 hits and were so catchy you couldn't stop singing them for days, "Love Bomb Baby", "Noize Level Critical", "Heaven" and "Living Without You" all became good time party anthems of a generation, and have influenced some of the contemporary acts of today.
