TIM LAMBESIS Was 'Obsessed With Bodybuilding' And 'Unavailable' To His Children, Says His Wife
May 9, 2013According to U-T San Diego, AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis' wife Meggan, whom he allegedly tried to hire a hitman to kill, filed for divorce in September, citing "irreconcilable differences." The couple, who had been married for eight years and were separated at the time, had adopted two girls at ages 6 and 8 in 2011 and a 1-year-old boy in 2009, all from Ethiopia.
Meggan Lambesis said in the court papers obtained by U-T San Diego that recent changes in her husband's behavior concerned her "regarding his ability to care for our three children." "Specifically," she wrote, "he has become obsessed with bodybuilding and spends a great deal of time lifting weights, hanging out in the gym, and being unavailable to the children."
Tim Lambesis (pictured below) reportedly continued to see his kids for about 10 hours a week when he was not on tour, even though he and his wife were no longer living together.
According to Meggan, her husband fell asleep while watching their kids at the beach or near the pool, and would ignore them while texting or talking on the phone. She further claimed that he twice visited his then-girlfriend in Florida in addition to being out on the road with his band about six months a year. He also spent thousands of dollars on tattoos for himself last year and purchased expensive vehicles.
Meggan Lambesis, who submitted a 2010 tax return showing the couple's $233,000 in gross income, said that she had quit teaching private school and was a stay-at-home mother.
Tim Lambesis, who has said he considers himself to be a Christian and acknowledges that he finds inspiration for lyrical content from biblical texts, was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday (May 7) around 2 p.m. at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Oceanside, California, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department.
He was charged with solicitation of another to commit murder of his wife, who resides in Encinitas.
Authorities began investigating Lambesis, 32, in the case on May 2, when they received information that he allegedly was trying to get someone to kill his wife.
Lambesis was booked into the Vista Jail and is scheduled to appear before a judge Thursday afternoon (May 9) at North Division Court in Vista.
Asked in a 2012 interview with HardNoise Online Radio about how his time on the road affected his home life, Lambesis said: "If there was a way to be home but still make a living playing music, I would do that in a heartbeat. But the catch is that, as a profession, this is what I'm passionate about. And then my personal life, what I'm passionate about is my loved ones back home. So, you know, those two have a conflict with each other. The only thing I can do is find a balance where, if I am gone a month on tour, then I find a month to be home and just kind of even it out that way."
