TOMMY LEE Reveals More Details About His Upcoming DJ/Drum Performance

April 13, 2004

Former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has revealed more details about his upcoming DJ/drum performance tour via this question-and-answer session posted at the TheWorldParty.netweb site:

The World Party: How would you describe the music and vibe of your DJ/drum performance?

Tommy Lee: "Well... like I do everything... it's hard fast and fuckin heavy... no gay disco shit!! There is a lot of huge analog bass moving constantly... and beats per minute soar to 137 bpm... I like to put the drums in only where they are needed... Dance music is simple... My drumming compliments [sic] the music."

The World Party: Are you just another celebrity wannabe DJ, or is it another component you're adding to your music arsenal?

Tommy Lee: "HELL NO!! If you've seen a MÖTLEY CRÜE show, you would know that since 1984 I've been incorporating electronic samples and loops in my solos and MÖTLEY's music forever!!... I've been making electronic music for years... I just haven't released it's been on my hard drives waiting for the right time and the time is NOW!! But then again all I ever wanted to be was a celebrity wanna-be DJ :)"

The World Party: Is the music in your DJ/drummer performance original?

Tommy Lee: "Three of the songs are mine!!... And I plan on eventually loading the whole set or most of it in there... I'm such a big fan of others that I will always play some other DJ's stuff too... I love Green Velvet, Plump DJ's, Adam Freeland, Paul Oakenfold, Speaker Junkies, Etc."

The World Party: What have you found to be the most difficult in getting behind the decks and performing in front of crowds? What do you love most?

Tommy Lee: "Let's face it... There's not that much that's difficult about droppin' the needle... Unless your Mix Master Mike… Now that's fuckin' insane... I do that shit on the drums and I will never claim to be that on the turntables!! Although getting the EFX perfectly in time can be a challenge when you do like we do and do the shit on the fly Live!! I love watching the crowd dance!!... Seeing people move to the beats gets me off, and has ever since the first show I played drums on! Beats move people!! And people move me!"

The World Party: What DJs do you find the most entertaining?

Tommy Lee: "Haven't really seen a whole lot but Mix Master Mike and Q-Bert."

The World Party: What can dance fans expect for TWP's Birthday Bash on Friday, April 23 at the Key Cub in Hollywood?

Tommy Lee: The girls better bring their high heeled Nike's, Dance fans have no worries.... We bring the HEAT!!

The World Party: What world records do you hold?

Tommy Lee: "Worlds Biggest Nuts!!"

Upcoming TOMMY LEE DJ/drum performance dates:

Apr. 23 – West Hollywood, CA @ The Key Club
Apr. 24 – San Diego, CA @ 4th & B
