TONY FRANLIN Says He Knows Nothing About A BLUE MURDER Reunion

June 10, 2003

Former THE FIRM bassist Tony Franklin has refuted the reports of his involvement in an upcoming reunion of BLUE MURDER, the classic early '90s hard rock band he helped launch with guitarist/vocalist John Sykes (THIN LIZZY, WHITESNAKE) and Carmine Appice (OZZY OSBOURNE, VANILLA FUDGE).

"I've had a number of people asking about the possibility of a BLUE MURDER reunion in September," Franklin wrote on his official web site. "I saw there was an announcement on a website about it... and seriously, I know NOTHING about this. It's all new to me. So if you hear anything, please let me know!! :-)"

Franklin also offered the following update on his current activities: "The band I was putting together has ended... Too many factors pulling us all in different directions..... I have many new things I'm working on, including lots of new music. Now you will have to forgive me for the tease here... I'm one that doesn't like to give too much away before things are solidified. I'll tell you everything when the time is right. One thing you can be sure of is a continuing commitment to creating excellent music!.... I have so many goals and musical dreams I intend to accomplish. Stay tuned!... Meanwhile, I've been doing various recording sessions and gigs, a wide variety of things... I recently played at The Simply Shakespeare event, hosted by Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. It was a fun-filled day and evening and many famous actors participated, including Tom and Rita, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, William Shatner, Martin Sheen, Christina Applegate and others. I'll have some pictures here soon.... I played at a Benefit for Baby Longley (at the Hard Rock Café in L.A.... I played some fun rock shows in Chicago with HAPPENIN' HARRY AND THE HAPTONES.... I even played at an open-air wedding in Malibu for a couple of successful artists. They wanted completely free-form music before, after and DURING the ceremony! They did have one pre-recorded piece of music.. they walked to the alter to a KING CRIMSON piece!... Oh there's no shortage of variety in Tony Franklin's life! :-) Have fun!"
