TOOL Guitarist Explains 'Guitar Hero' Involvement
October 16, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports that TOOL guitarist Adam Jones spoke with RollingStone.com about the band's decision to license three songs for Guitar Hero: World Tour. Even though the quartet hasn't licensed its music out since 1996, they decided to work with Guitar Hero publisher Activision if they were allowed to be involved with the artwork and design. Jones explained, "It was a really exciting situation for us to express ourselves and work with other artists, and do something where we walked away going, 'Yeah, wow, that turned out really good.'"
The game incorporates a digital venue based on TOOL's album artwork and videos. Two shots of the venue can be seen at RollingStone.com.
Jones said he and the other members of the band got a chance to play Guitar Hero while working on the game, adding that he "got a blister on his thumb" from playing it so much.
The three TOOL tracks contained in the game are "Parabola", "Schism" and "Vicarious".
Guitar Hero: World Tour is set for release on October 26.
TOOL is currently taking a break following nearly two years of touring behind its last album, 2006's "10,000 Days".
