TRACII GUNS Says L.A. GUNS Drummer Should Be Thrown In Jail For 'Lying'

April 11, 2005

Former L.A. GUNS/current BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION guitarist Tracii Guns has slammed L.A. GUNS drummer Steve Riley for "lying" about Guns' departure from the group.

In a recent interview with "The Hairball John Radio Show", Riley stated the following about Guns' decision to leave in 2003 in order to focus on BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION: "We had everything in place. We were with Spitfire Records and they had ALICE COOPER and they were ready to put both bands together over in Europe and take them back into the States. It was a really, really good opportunity because we were sitting on a great album, too, and [then] Tracii leaves. So it was that quick and the album was over, because by the time we recovered from Tracii just walking — and that’s what he did, he just walked and went and did this Sixx project with Nikki — it just left 'Waking the Dead', and the label, dead in the water. By the time we picked up the pieces, 'Waking the Dead' was over. And it wasn't really the best of us splitting up, and it could have been. I think people should know that me and Phil (Lewis) thought that he could do both. Tracii could do the L.A. GUNS thing because we just finished the album and we were indebted to the record company as they gave us a bunch of money to do the album and we were indebted to do a tour behind it. And me and Phil Lewis thought that Tracii could have done both of them. There was no doubt about it that he could have done BRIDES (OF DESTRUCTION) and L.A. GUNS and taken care of business. But because of the way he did it, we fell flat on our asses because the label was like, 'What's the story?' And we said, 'Hey, this is the way it is: Tracii split.' So it wasn't really the best of splits, and we don't have much contact with him."

Responding to Riley, Guns wrote the following on his official blog:

"If they put thieves in jail, why not liars????

"I just dont understand how these guys can be taken seriously by anybody. The fact is that Spitfire was the first label to come to the BRIDES with an offer. Steve and Obi [manager] concocted this whole ALICE COOPER tour bullshit for Europe (by the way, I did the ALICE tour with the BRIDES). Second, there was no harsh breakup. I never quit the band. I simply told them to make smart desicions while I was gone. Now they have buried the band deep deep in the dirt, and they continuously lied about things I have said... Steve Riley stole all of my indy royalty checks, he has been selling videos and DVDs of the band with me playing and not giving any of the other members a red fucking cent. I have hired an attorney and the truth will absolutely come out in this case. After i win the case, I can't wait to sell Steve Riley's house to Nickey Beat for 10 bucks...

"People that have the ability to lie at this magnitude should be thrown in jail...

"Steve, it's simple... people get what they deserve and you are about to get yours..."
