TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED Announces New Lineup

July 15, 2008

UK death/grind band TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED has issued the following update:

"Firstly we have parted ways with our vocalist Charlie Holmes. It is sad to see him go as he is a good friend and we are happy to say there is no ill feeling between him and the rest of the band. It is a welcomed change for the band as we both wanted different things from a vocalist and we felt death metal wasn't the right venture for Charlie. We wish him all the best for the future and any projects he chooses to get involved in.

"The good news is that we finally have a full lineup, including new vocalist Jonny Burgan, and keeping it in the family, our new bassist is Rob's younger brother Dave Purnell, who is no stranger to the band — you may have seen him playing with us at Download. Jonny and Dave live and breathe extreme music and are both bringing a lot to the table in terms of musicianship. We all feel that this is the strongest the band has ever been and with a solid lineup we are set to take no prisoners across the summer and later this year on tour.

"We have also been busy writing for our second album and it's sounding really fucking heavy. We have almost all of the music written and have set to work on vocal arrangements with the new line-up already. We're real excited about the new songs and cannot wait to hit the studio later this year to record the album! Expect all the blasting, speed and brutality of [TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED's debut album] 'Purgation' with more technicality, attack, old-school death metal influence and truly crushing riffing!

"For the near future, we are about to set off on tour with AORTIC DISSECTION this week which will be followed up by another headline tour with BLEED FROM WITHIN throughout the UK and finally we are off on tour with SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY around Europe later this summer. We also have touring plans for late this year which we are very excited about, so keep an eye out for a further announcement soon!

"Also 'Purgation' is set to hit the stores in America on the 19th August and mainland Europe on the 22nd August so make sure you get out on the 19th / 22nd and pick up your copy from your local store!

"We have had a great 2008 so far and it isn't stopping here…"

Bezer from Metal Hammer conducted an interview with TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED backstage at this year's Download festival, which was held June 13-15 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, UK. Watch the three-minute chat below.

Formed in late 2006 in Bath England by Rob Purnell and Martyn Evans, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED has been creating some of the most extreme music in death metal, forging the new with the old school. Their blistering blast filled death metal is a devastating aural assault earning them the title as the UK's heaviest band. With the writing process coming to a close for their follow-up album, and a freshly penned partnership with Metal Blade Records, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED is looking to cement its name firmly in the extreme music scene around the world and prove its passion and capabilities for writing devastating death metal.
