TRIVIUM Bassist Talks 'In Waves' In New Video Interview

August 18, 2011

Ellen Eldridge of Target Audience Magazine recently conducted an interview with bassist Paolo Gregoletto of Florida metallers TRIVIUM. You can now watch the chat in two parts below.

TRIVIUM's new album, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career. (Note: The Billboard chart was re-run yesterday, resulting in "In Waves" moving two spots higher than its originally announced position.) The group's previous CD, "Shogun", opened with just under 24,000 units back in October 2008 to debut at No. 23. The effort followed up "The Crusade", which registered a first-week tally of 31,000 copies in October 2006 to enter the chart at No. 25.

"In Waves" first-week chart positions:

Japan: #6
Germany: #8
Australia: #9
USA: #13
UK: #17
Canada: #29

Commented TRIVIUM guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy: "TRIVIUM want to thank our amazing fans around the globe both old and new for their support of our latest project, 'In Waves'. We're blown away by the worldwide fan reaction and without you none of this is possible. It's great to see metal make it into the global album charts where some say metal music doesn't belong but this says it's alive and well."

Heafy continued, "We also want to thank all of the crazy fans who came to see us on our release-day show odyssey.

"It's rare that a band gets to play more than one (if even one) show on the day of their album release date, but we did three! We played to an incredible crowd in Germany at Wacken Open Air with JUDAS PRIEST for the German release; then a show in England the next night with IRON MAIDEN for the U.K. release; and then two nights later a main stage show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with the [Rockstar Energy Drink] Mayhem Festival for the U.S. release. Through all the travel and about nine hours of sleep in total, it was completely worth it to spread the word of 'In Waves' and live and breathe the music with our fans."

"In Waves" was recorded primarily at Paint It Black Studios in Orlando, Florida (with only the drums having been tracked at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida) with the production/mixing team of Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY) and Martin "Ginge" Ford, along with engineer Carl Bown. A two-disc special edition is also available. It features five bonus tracks, plus a DVD with a 40-minute, behind-the-scenes documentary, as well as an exclusive concert filmed in a warehouse located in Orlando, Florida, which is the band's stomping grounds. This concert features the first performances of tracks from "In Waves", along with TRIVIUM classics.
