TUNGSTEN: New Song Available For Download

July 11, 2005

Long-running Chalmette, Louisiana-based metallers TUNGSTEN have pushed back the projected release date of their fifth album, "If Death Doesn't Change You… Nothing Will", to July 16 from the previously announced June 28. The CD will be released via the group's own label, Tungsten Music Records and through their official web site, www.tungstenmusic.com. The band are also introducing a new 12-step program for downloading the music, "12 Songs in 12 Weeks". TUNGSTEN vocalist/guitarist Al Hodge explains, "We will start with the lead-off track and single, 'Leave the Dust Behind' (mp3),on July 16, and continue to for the next 12 weeks, by uploading a new song every week. We haven't changed our views about file sharing and we still encourage it. We were the first band to do so by allowing our entire back catalog of albums to be available for downloading from our site. A lot of bands have followed suit since. But it all started here."

Regarding the new album, Hodge said, "This is the absolute time capsule of what this band has been through over the last three years and the hardest album we've ever had to make. This was the first time in the history of the band where the roles were reversed and everybody played a different part in making this happen. Mark Talamo, TUNGSTEN drummer, really shinned. He crafted all of the music for the album and really did a great job wearing the many different hats of being a composer, an engineer, the mixer, mastering the record and a performer this time around. Steve Talamo, TUNGSTEN bassist, let his real talents come out as the lead guitarist on all of the tracks as well. As far as the lyrics go, this is what I went through over the last three years after dealing with the death of my father, then a year later dealing with the death of girl that meant the world to me. It was a hard road to get from there to where I am now. You never really get over it, but you try to live with the loss and keep moving forward by not looking too far back or too far ahead. I don't suggest listening to this album on a daily basis, unless you are going through the grieving process. It will make a lot of sense to those who have lost. This album is like a first aid kit to mourners. It's there when you need it and it rocks too."

TUNGSTEN's fifth album, "If Death Doesn't Change You… Nothing Will" was recorded at H/T Studio in Chalmette, Louisiana.

In other news, Al Hodge's side band called THE MUDDPIGGS will play their second show in Chalmette on Saturday, July 16 at The Shack. "I wanted to thank all of the cats that came out for the first show and hope to see y'all again at this one," he said. "We've got some new songs and a few tricks up our sleeve. In between sets, there will a rock DJ spinning some of the new TUNGSTEN tunes that night so everybody can get a taste of it. Well have copies of it for sale that night as well."
