TURMOIL Announce New Bassist

December 9, 2004

Reunited Philadelphia hardcore legends TURMOIL have announced the addition of bassist John Gardner (THE KISS OF DEATH, SEVER THE FALLEN, OUTCOME) to the group's ranks. "'Bass player' has been a revolving door position in this band since day one," the band write on their web site. "Not counting Hodges and Hydro taking turns playing bass at shows in the early days, this will be the foutth bassist we have had. Hopefully, John will be the last. More importantly, we have finally achieved our goal of having every member of the bands first name start with 'J', not to mention having four 'John's. Let the hazing begin!!!!!!"

As previously reported, TURMOIL will be heading into the studio in mid-January to record three brand new songs for inclusion on their upcoming retrospective release on Abacus Recordings. The new tracks will be recorded at Water Studios in Hoboken, NJ with producer Ted Young (LAMB OF GOD, STATIC LULLABY). Tenatively titled "Staring Back", the release will be a double-disc containing all of the band's recordings, including the three brand new songs and B-sides.

In the meantime, the band are dusting themselves off with some rare live appearances overseas, with expectations to do a reunion show in support of the retrospective release. When asked what the plans were for the reunion shows, guitarist Jon Hodges simply states: "To make lots of noise and destroy."
