TWISTED SISTER Fans Unite Online To Record Version Of "Sin After Sin"
February 12, 2002Five TWISTED SISTER fans from different parts of Finland and Sweden who came in contact with one another via TS frontman Dee Snider's message board at www.deesnider.com, but who, to this day, have never met in person, have collaborated on a cover version of TWISTED SISTER's Sin After Sin entirely through e-mail correspondence. Staffan Wensby (lead guitar/fills/ending solo/mixing),Rami Heikkil (drums),Mika Helminen (lead guitar/fills/main solo),Satu (vocals) and Jari (bass) reportedly recorded their part of the song, e-mailed it to Staffan, who then completed the final mixing. According to Wensby, this was something of a dream of mine finally coming true. At first, I never thought anyone would want to do this, etc. But when old time SMF [Sick Motherf.cking Friend] Rami hooked up, I knew this would happen one way or another. So, now we had a guitarist and a drummer, but still we were missing some crucial parts like bass and vocals at least. The bass part I could have recorded myself tho if we hadn't found a bass player, but the vocals... let's just say I'm not known for my vocal capacities. So this other Finnish guy Mika joined us, and he brought Satu to do the vocals and Jari to do the bass lines. After this point I got a few more people wanting to be a part of this, but I found that we had found a good group of persons to do this thing. Now all we had to do was to pick the song. I think pretty much everyone was set on doing an old song, something faster where you can sense Twisted Rage. So we bounced a few suggestions back and forth and finally picked 'Sin After Sin'. So, Rami started recording his drum track, 'cause it's really hard to know how to play the other parts when you haven't heard the drums first, so when I got it from him (in MP3 format that is),I spread it around to the others. Then a couple of weeks later, I started getting' the parts from them turning up on my ftp. Then Christmas came and I couldn't do anything for a while, when back home and stuff.. But first thing when returned here was mixing the parts, it took some time, some tracks needed to be cleaned up, modified, increase the volume, normalize, add more bass etc. Let me say that there were many drafts before this version of the song though :)."
