UK's BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR Festival Moves Up A Stage

May 23, 2008

The UK's premier metal festival Bloodstock Open Air has taken a major industry partner onto their board prior to their biggest year yet.

Stuart Galbraith joins Bloodstock after heading up Live Nation where he gained his reputation in festivals, events like Live 8 and promoting world tours for music's elite. Not only does Stuart excel in the fields of event management, rock music and an ability to capture the big names, he actually resides in the general area of Bloodstock headquarters and the festival site. His role is in an advisory and logistics capacity, bringing over 23 years of experience to the home of metal.

The Derbyshire-based event which is expected to attract up to 10,000 metalheads and rock fans over the weekend of August 15-17 at picturesque Catton Hall has long been courted by industry personnel.

However, Paul Gregory and his close extended family team have regularly politely refused to work with anyone if they were concerned that those potential partners may be deemed inappropriate by their huge fan base.

Paul Gregory comments: "Bloodstock and the organizers would be lynched if we were ever perceived as selling off the Crown Jewels. We've all worked tirelessly over the years to get us to this level so we'll always keep the festival metal. We've had to make some pretty defining decisions over the last seven years and I think this is perhaps the biggest and most positive to date. The addition of Stuart as an equal partner means we can expand the original and current management team whilst developing genuine worldwide industry partnerships, which can only improve the profile and performance of Bloodstock. This is the only approach I've seriously considered and the whole of our team is buzzing with anticipation as to what our combined talents can result in. With Stuart's unparalleled festival experience combined with our direct metal expertise, Bloodstock's future is dazzling. The future is metal. The future is Bloodstock."

Stuart Galbraith states: "It's great to be involved in a pure, heavy metal rock festival again. It will be the third of its kind I've been part of. Monsters of Rock in the mid-1980s to 1996 represented the pinnacle of rock at the time and the subsequent creation of Download has taken that into the modern era. But there's always been a need for a pure, hard rock festival and we hope to build on the great work that Paul and his family have put in."
