UNEXPECT, ELECTRIC EARTH Nominated For 'Independent Music Award'

Quebec's UNEXPECT and Sweden's ELECTRIC EARTH are among the nominees in the "Hard Rock/Metal" category at the the Independent Music Awards, which "helps indie artists and releases worldwide overcome mainstream obstacles by placing winners and finalists in front of more than 20 million new fans via year-long promotion, marketing and distribution programs," according to a press release. The complete list of "Hard Rock/Metal" nominees is as follows:

ASHES ARE NUTRITIOUS (New Jersey) - "Frustration"
ELECTRIC EARTH (Sweden) - "Vol II - Words Unspoken"
STATE OF SHOCK (British Columbia, Canada) - "Life, Love & Lies"
UNEXPECT (Quebec, Canada) - "In A Flesh Aquarium"
WEAPONS (UK) - "Weapons"

IMA finalists will now advance to the final round of judging by a distinguished group of influential artists and industry insiders.

The judges who will determine this year's IMA winners include Les Claypool of PRIMUS; Chad Smith of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS; Suzanne Vega; Snoop Dogg, Ray Davies of THE KINKS; Susan Tedeschi, Frank Iero of MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE; blues legend Charlie Musselwhite; Judy Collins; Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis, MTV Music Supervisor Carrie Hughes, Kevin Lyman of Vans Warped Tour and many others. Winners will be announced in December. Past winners include LACUNA COIL and GOD FORBID.
