UNLEASHED Music, Interview Featured In SPV's Latest Podcast

September 29, 2008

SPV audio podcast 11 features music from Swedish death metal veterans UNLEASHED as well as an interview with the group's lead singer and bassist, Johnny Hedlund. Hosted by Freeman, the podcast can be streamed below.

"Black Horizon", the new video from UNLEASHED, can be viewed below. "The idea behind 'Black Horizon' is to show how things must have been like for our forefathers so many years ago," frontman Johnny Hedlund told Headbanger's Blog. "Sailing across the open sea wasn't always a successful task, and many brave warriors must have died on foreign soil, a long way from Scandinavian shores."

The "Black Horizon" video was shot "in Belgrade, Serbia and "we are extremely happy with the result," UNLEASHED recently said.

Check out photos from the video shoot at the band's official web site.

As previously reported, UNLEASHED will embark on the "Hammer Battalion Europe 2008" headlining tour in November. Support on the trek will come from KRISIUN and ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET.

UNLEASHED's ninth full-length album, "Hammer Battalion", sold 370 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Recorded in Sweden and produced by the band's guitarist Fredrik Folkare, "Hammer Battalion" takes a battle-hardened axe to the misguided concepts of self-subjugation, transparent corruption and unneeded suffering in the name of religious figureheads and provides a perfect link between the ancient struggles of their Nordic forefathers and the ills of our modern society. The blistering "The Greatest Of All Lies" and "Long Before Winter's Call" take on old religious myths re-cast as pure fact, while "Your Children Will Burn" serves as a warning of the consequences of blind faith. "Whatever is done in the name of different religions is often done against Mother Nature," notes vocalist/bassist Johnny Hedlund. "And she has the means of striking back."

UNLEASHED's current lineup:

Johnny Hedlund: Bass, Vocals
Tomas Måsgard: Guitar
Fredrik Folkare: Guitar
Anders Schultz: Drums
