USURPER Announce New Singer

January 12, 2004

Chicago death/thrash lords USURPER have announced the addition of vocalist Danny Lawson to the group's ranks. "Danny was the vocalist for the December 26 USURPER show at the Metro in Chicago, and simply his performance SLAYED!" the band write on their web site. "He was the perfect fit for USURPER and the chemistry on stage was that of a band who's been together for over ten years, not of a band with a 'replacement' vocalist. So after the extremely successful gig, USURPER asked Danny to join full-time.

"Danny was the vocalist for Jon Necromancer's first band AGNOSIA (from 1989-1992),he grew up down the street from Apocalyptic Warlord, and has been friends with the band for many years. His Metal influences and warped sense of humor is a perfect match with the rest of the band.

"As of now USURPER is taking a short break. USURPER have abandoned their old practice spot (aka: 'the rat hole'),and have parted ways (on good terms) with Midwest Metal Management and are negotiating a new management deal. Guitarist Rick Scythe and drummer Joe 'Apocalyptic' Warlord are currently working on new material in Joe's basement, and plan to regroup with the rest of the band in March 2004 at a new practice spot. USURPER is planning a US/Euro tour for summer of 2004, and by January 2005 plan on recording the next album.

"This is definitely a new beginning for the band, yet nothing will change, only improve! The Metal is even stronger and harder than before, the line-up is stronger than ever, so now USURPER feels that it is time to improve all the other aspects of the band as well!"
