USURPER Hard At Work On New Material

September 26, 2006

Chicago's USURPER is currently busy rehearsing new material for its sixth full-length album, which the band plans to record in early 2007. New songtitles include "Talons of Steel", "Rebel Wolf", "Planet of the Humans", "Zombie Revolution" and "Replicants of the Apocalypse".

In other news, USURPER guitarist Carcass Chris will undergo surgery on his left hand in the next few weeks due to an injury he sustained earlier this summer. "Chris is doing fine but is limited in his playing abilities and will be unable to rehearse for a few weeks," reads a posting on the group's web site. "This, however, will not affect the new material or next album as he plans a 100% recovery. Until then the band will continue to rehearse the new material with Chris transcribing the music and his lead guitar parts."

USURPER recently parted ways with vocalist Dan Tyrantor due to "ongoing circumstances and issues" in his personal life. The remaining four members have announced plans to continue as a four-piece, with guitarist Rick Scythe and bassist Jon Necromancer taking over the vocal duties.

USURPER's fifth full-length album, "Cryptobeast", was released last year via Earache Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Twilight Dominion" was recorded at Chicago's Rax Trax Studios with producer Neil Kernon (JUDAS PRIEST, DEICIDE, CANNIBAL CORPSE).
