VENOM Schedules First Canadian Appearance In 27 Years

British black metal pioneers VENOM will make their first Canadian appearance in 27 years as the headliners of the Noctis V metal festival, set to take place over three days (September 27-29) at the University of Calgary's MacEwan Hall Ballroom, the Distillery Nightclub and Vern's Bar in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Support acts will include the post-rock group AGALLOCH (USA, as well as grindcore outfit PIG DESTROYER (USA). Old-school heavy metallers will be satisfied as veteran heavy/power-metal combo MANILLA ROAD (USA) is set to play in its first Canadian appearance, along with Swedish heavy/doom trio GRAND MAGUS. American satanic death metal band NUNSLAUGHTER occult black-metal group BLACK WITCHERY (USA) and German festival favorites EXREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS will also perform, along with popular black/speed-metal band MIDNIGHT (USA) who will be making their third Noctis appearance this year. Additional support acts will include "humor-core" band PSYCHOSTICK (USA) and tech-death act ARCHSPIRE (CAN). Female-fronted doom metallers BLOOD CEREMONY (CAN) and thrashers SPEEDWOLF (USA) will play at the Noctis launch party, along with progressive death metallers THE CONTORTIONIST (USA).

As for accompanying Canadian talent, the bill includes Edmonton-based female fronted heavy metal act THE ORDER OF CHAOS, thrash group EPI-DEMIC, tech-death outfit KATAPLEXIS, and prog metallers PHANTOM LIMB, all from Calgary. Heavy-metal band ANCIIENTS folk-metal act SCYTHIA, and doomsters HOOPSNAKE, all from British Columbia, have recently been added to the bill.

To help Noctis patrons unwind after what is sure to be an epic set by VENOM, the official after party at Vern's Bar will include a metal and punk set by BLOATED PIG and OH SHIT!
