VENOM To Tour Mexico, South America In December

October 13, 2009

British black metal pioneers VENOM will embark on a tour of Mexico and South America in December.

Commented the band's management: "We started looking into the possibility of organizing a VENOM tour in South America a couple of years back. VENOM have a massive following in Latin America, and now that the band's agent has organized a fantastic tour with the promoters, the band immediately agreed to take time out from recording the new album to start their rehearsals for the tour."

The dates are as follows (venue details to be announced):

Dec. 05 - Mexico, Mexico DF
Dec. 06 - Colombia, Bogota
Dec. 09 - Chile, Santiago
Dec. 10 - Argentina, Buenos Aires
Dec. 12 - Brazil, Sao Paulo

VENOM is currently in the studio laying down tracks for its next album. The band has been busy recording demos and rehearsing over the last few months with the new drummer Danté.

Commented VENOM bassist/vocalist Conrad "Cronos" Lant: "There's a fresh energy with the new lineup and the sessions are going great. Danté is a big hitter, which is fantastic.

"The new album is sounding killer and should be ready to be unleashed by the summer 2010."

Drummer Antony "Antton" Lant (who is also Cronos' brother) announced his departure from VENOM in April. He told BLABBERMOUTH.NET at the time, "I have left for various reasons and would like to concentrate on my own band called DEF-CON-ONE.

DEF-CON-ONE's 10-track CD "Blood Soaks The Floor", is available from the band's MySpace page.

"Hell", the latest album from VENOM, was released in North America in September 2008 via Universal Music Enterprises.

The special-edition version of VENOM's "Black Metal" album came out in September. According to the band, the new set contains bonus tracks and a DVD of the "7th Date of Hell" video of VENOM performing live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, England in 1984.

On October 22, 2008, a two-album Japan-only cardboard sleeve reissue series from VENOM was made available via Universal Music featuring the following LPs:

* "Welcome To Hell" (1981)
* "Black Metal" (1982)

Each cardboard sleeve reissue features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD players).
