Video Premiere: BEHEMOTH's 'The Satanist'

September 15, 2015

"The Satanist", the new video from Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH, can be seen below. Directed by Andrzej Dragan, the clip is another ambitious and visually striking piece of art from the band that's known for videos that remain a cut above standard metal music videos.

BEHEMOTH frontman Nergal comments: "BEHEMOTH has always been about breaking boundaries, taboos, leaving its comfort zone and thinking out of the box! Here we go again with the brand new video from us. It's already a fourth official clip off 'The Satanist'. The concept came from the director, Andrzej Dragan. It's situated in modern Warsaw in the present times. It's where the carnal world meets the unknown… it's where the ZOS meets KIA… It's where SACRUM is raped by PROFANUM…"

Dragan adds: "This is a picture of alienation and ultimate rejection of an oversensitive character by an anonymous city."

"The Satanist" is the title track of BEHEMOTH's latest album, which sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 34 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Asked about BEHEMOTH's plans to follow up "The Satanist", Nergal told Australia's "Rabid Noise" podcast: "Well, I don't really think about following it up yet. I have to change my way of thinking. I focus on the present moment — on here and now — and just make we squeeze the fuck out of this album, all the juices, and make sure all the touring [is completed successfully]. We have this attitude that we want people to have this impression that it's the last time we play on stage. When you see us live, it's now or never, if you know what I mean. So I'm not like… I used to be like that… I'd go into the studio and spit out the record, and the record… Name any record, it's been every time I did that. And I was already thinking of the next one, because I knew that I'm gonna top myself, and I really attempted that every time. But I was never satisfied. And this time, it's quite the opposite. So this is it — this is the ultimate BEHEMOTH album — and there's no plans to record the next one yet. So what we focus on, we focus on the quality of the touring for 'The Satanist', and let's see what the future brings after that."
