Video Premiere: POWERMAN 5000's Footsteps And Voices'

October 31, 2018

POWERMAN 5000 has released the official music video for the song "Footsteps And Voices". The track is taken from the band's latest album, "New Wave", which was released in October 2017 via Pavement Entertainment.

POWERMAN 5000 vocalist Spider One told Artist Waves about the inspiration for "New Wave": "I wanted to make a record that I wasn't hearing in the rock world. I can't say I'm much of a fan of what I'm hearing these days. Rock has become pretty controlled. There is a very middle-of-the-road feeling I get from most bands and lyrically I hear a lot of generic sentiments. So, I guess, personally I was frustrated and inspired to do something that went against all that."

Regarding the overall sound of the follow-up to 2014's "Builders Of The Future", Spider One said: "We went a bit dirtier on this one. Ripped it up more than the last couple of records. One of the goals was to recreate the noise of the live show. Keep in the chaos."

Spider One told the Farmington Daily Times that "the most important ingredient" in the band's ascent in the early 1990s "was the absence of the Internet. And what I mean by that is how the Internet has changed music and monetized it. Nobody ever thinks about that, but what it did is, it killed the local sound. Before music was instantly available through downloads, musical sounds would germinate over the course of years in places like Seattle or Austin. Now, that's just been eliminated. If a band comes out with a unique sound, everybody copies it right away."
