VINNIE MOORE: New Solo Album Title Announced
December 9, 2008UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore has set "To The Core" as the title of his new solo album, due in early 2009 via Holland's Mascot Records.
According to the label, "Vinnie was among the first artists with releasing instrumental guitar albums ('Mind's Eye'),he played with ALICE COOPER amongst others and is guitarist for UFO since 2003.
"Vinnie always has the song, the melody and the feel as the main ingredient in his music and just one of those handful of totally awesome players. Dean Guitars have a Vinnie Moore signature model coming soon."
In a 2007 interview with Get Ready To Roll!, Vinnie Moore stated about his upcoming solo CD, "The album has 11 songs and is being mixed right now by Paul Northfield who also did the latest DREAM THEATER CD as well as many RUSH records such as 'Moving Pictures'. Van Romaine (of the STEVE MORSE BAND) played drums and JD DeServio (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) played bass. Tim Lehner (ZEROESQUE) did the keyboards and I even have a guest named Hurricane Hank from the GEORGE THOROGOOD band playing sax on one tune. I think this is my best creative effort yet. It has taken a while because I have been on the road so much and I can't wait to get it out there for people to hear."
Vinnie Moore performed at this year's Guitarfest at Music Live (the UK's favorite music-making bash),which was held November 7-9 at Birmingham's NEC. Watch fan-filmed video footage of the show below (clip uploaded by "janeyb65").
UFO's latest CD, "The Monkey Puzzle", came out in September 2006 via SPV Records. The follow-up to 2004's "You Are Here" was recorded at Area 51 Studios with producer Tommy Newton, who also worked with the band on their prior album and who recorded the material for the band's "Showtime" live CD.
