VINNIE PAUL To Appear At NAMM

January 2, 2007

Former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott will take part in signing sessions for several of his endorsers on January 19-20 at the NAMM show (National Association of Music Merchants) at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. So far he is confirmed to appear at the Pearl Drums booth on Saturday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. Additional appearances will be announced soon.

As previously reported, REBEL MEETS REBEL — the project featuring three of the founding members of PANTERA (Vinnie Paul, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and bassist Rex Brown) together with legendary country singer/outlaw David Allan Coe — will have its self-titled debut album released in Europe on February 16 via Locomotive Records.

Described as a unique crossover of country, metal and rock, "Rebel Meets Rebel" was recorded and mixed over a four-year period (1999-2003) at Chasin Jason studios in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas. Vinnie Paul told Launch that the CD is a tribute to his late brother's talents. "It was a cool record, you know," he said. "It was just something that was really cool and something that's gonna add to Dime's incredible legacy that he already has. It's got some of the most stellar guitar work he's ever done in his entire life on there, and it was a fun record to make and it makes me feel like I'm still workin'with him right now. It's just one more thing that he did that's amazing, you know."

Abbott was killed onstage in December of 2004 by a deranged fan during a DAMAGEPLAN concert in Columbus, Ohio.
