VISIONS OF ATLANTIS Parts Ways With Bassist, Prepares To Record New Album
September 22, 2009Austrian symphonic metallers VISIONS OF ATLANTIS have issued the following update:
"Our bassist Mike [Koren] and his girlfriend will become parents very soon and we all want to wish them the best with their little rocker. But that leads directly to some bad news: Mike will leave the band and will take a baby break from music so that he can focus on his new role as father a 100%. We all understand his decision completely and so we had a last big party last weekend where we played a little gig with a handful of invited close friends to release Mike in his baby break. If and when he will return to the band is completely unsure at the moment which is also clear and we (the whole VISIONS OF ATLANTIS family) hope that you out there will understand Mike and also wish him the best!!!"
VISIONS OF ATLANTIS will enter the studio in November to begin recording the band's fourth album for an early 2010 release. According to the group, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS' new singer, Maxi Nil, is doing "a great job" in singing the new songs during the pre-production phase and "except some very little stuff and some last guitar details, everything is recorded now."
For more information on Maxi Nil, visit her MySpace page.
VISIONS OF ATLANTIS in 2007 parted ways with the group's Minnesota-based vocalist, Melissa Ferlaak, and her now-husband, guitarist Wolfgang "Wops" Koch, due to "musical differences." As a result, the band's previously announced participation in the KAMELOT European tour was cancelled. Koch has since been replaced by the returning guitarist Werner Fiedler, who was responsible for much of the songwriting on the group's first two records.
VISIONS OF ATLANTIS's latest album, "Trinity", was released in May 2007 via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded at Dreamscape Studios and was mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland. The CD's cover artwork was created by Anthony Clarkson, who has previously worked with BLIND GUARDIAN, HYPOCRISY and EXODUS, among others.
