Vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO Says New TALISMAN Album Is 'Nearly Done'

February 15, 2006

According to MelodicRock.com, vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN, SOUL SIRKUS) has issued the following update on his current and upcoming activities:

"Hope you are all having a fab 2006 so far. It has been nonstop for me since the clock struck midnight but as usual, I would not have it any other way.

"The new TALISMAN album [tentatively titled 'Bar'] is nearly done and I am THRILLED to say we were able to keep the original lineup intact for the recording. Fredrik [Ã…kesson, guitar] is now involved with the metal band ARCH ENEMY which we thought would make it difficult to squeeze time from him for this but it is done and we are together again.

"The 'Best of JSS Ballads' CD is now called 'Jeff Scott Soto - The Essential Ballads' and will feature three unreleased tracks as well as songs from 'Love Parade', 'Holding On' EP, 'Prism', 'Believe In Me' EP and 'Lost In The Translation'. The artwork and remastering are now complete and the package looks very impressive. Frontiers have no set a release date yet, but I am guessing it will be in the spring.

"My new solo stuff, well, it is really hard to call it my solo stuff as I have mentioned several times already, it has a different vibe than 'Lost In The Translation' or 'Prism' in which case it is an altogether new JSS, is also finally underway. I keep reminding everyone it is THAT different as I do not want the hate mail saying it is not as heavy, it is not as AOR, etc., It is gonna stand on it is own legs and only those who have an open mind as well as like the more soulful side are gonna appreciate this. But I am happy about the progress and will probably feature samples on www.jefffscottsoto.com as they occur.

"As it stands now, there will be no JSS shows or tours this year. With the new sound, it is not likely I will tour for that material unless it is released under a major label or tour support to back it. Since there is no rock solo material coming out, promoters out there are not interested in risking shows will have proper attendance to meet costs. TALISMAN may have some dates along the way but this is the only chance for live appearances this year.

"Lastly, there are a lot of things said and rumored about SOUL SIRKUS. Bottom line is we are NOT officially done with, nor will we be unless a press statement comes from all of us saying it is. We are currently on hiatus until further notice which basically means there is possibility for future involvement."
