VOIVOD: Snake-less SEX!

January 5, 2002

VOIVOD vocalist Snake was inexplicably replaced by CAFÉINE frontman Xavier during the former group's appearance at Montreal's Foufounes Electrique on December 30th as part of a bill that featured 10 local acts playing covers (as first reported here back on December 21st). VOIVOD guitarist Piggy (aka Denis D'Amour) and drummer Away (aka Michel Langevin) were reportedly joined by Xavier and the bassist from the Quebec group GROOVY AARDVARK during a 30-minute set of SEX PISTOLS cover versions as part of this special event, dubbed Ô Mages Loco, which took place at one of Montreal's longest-running live venues. As previously reported, VOIVOD are believed to be presently writing the material for their upcoming studio CD, which is scheduled to include an appearance by former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted. A late 2002 release through Century Media Records is expected.
