VOLBEAT Explains Abbreviated SUMMER BREEZE Performance

August 22, 2006

Danish metallers VOLBEAT have issued the following statement regarding their abbreviated set at the Summer Breeze festival, which took place August 17-19, 2006 in Dinkelsbuehl, Germany:

"We are sorry that we couldn't perform optimum on the Summer Breeze festival.

"Our bus broke down 200 kilometres from Summer Breeze. So we had to get some auto help. And it took over an hour before they could moove the bus to a mechanic. And then we had to take a taxi to the auto mechanic, which took 35 minutes. And then we stood there for over an hour and didnt know what to do. Summer Breeze gave us a new time in the phone (14:30).

"We rented two cars since the mechanics couldn't get our bus ready before night time, so we was driving very very fast to get to the Summer Breeze. When we got there, they said: you got 20 minutes from now on and there's nothing more we can do. Within 5 minutes we stood there not warmed up or anything and played only 15 minutes without our brains and body. Sorry.

"After the 'show,' we talked about: should we have done this? But hey, we did our best at the 15 minutes, and that's perhaps the best thing to do, but it sure wasn't the best gig/performance.

"We still can't remember that we were on stage; it just went so fucking fast."

VOLBEAT's debut album, "The Strength, The Sound, The Songs", recently became the first Danish heavy rock release in over 10 years to break the national Top 20. The CD, which was originally issued in October 2005, received a new lease on life with the band's recent appearance at the Roskilde festival and the subsequent airing of their video for the DUSTY SPRINGFIELD cover "I Only Wanna Be With You" on MTV's "Headbanger's Ball".

"The Strength, The Sound, The Songs" was released via the Mascot Records subsidiary Rebel Monster Records. The CD was recorded at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark and contains re-recorded tracks from the group's two demos, as well as several new songs.

VOLBEAT will enter Hansen studios on October 17 with producer Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, INVOCATOR) to begin recording their second album for an early 2007 release.
