VREID To Enter Studio In September

July 24, 2005

VREID, the new Norwegian band formed by former WINDIR members Hváll (bass),Steingrim (drums) and Sture (vocals, guitar),will enter Hváll's Studio 1184 in September to begin recording their second album, tentatively due in March 2006 via Tabu Recordings. VREID recently recorded a cover of the IMMORTAL classic "As the Eternity Opens" from the legendary album "Pure Holocaust" for an upcoming IMMORTAL tribute CD, "Epimythion - Tribute to Immortal", due before the end of the year via Greece's Townsend Avalanche Music. More information about the tribute album can be found at this location.

As previously reported, VREID have been confirmed for the Motstøy festival, set to take place September 3 in Notodden, Norway. Also scheduled to perform at the festival are THULSA DOOM, MYRKSKOG, GRIFFIN, PAIN OF SALVATION and THE CUMSHOTS, among others.

VREID's debut CD, "Kraft", was recorded Studio 1184 and was mixed at Subsonic Society Studio (SUSPERIA, WINDIR, RED HARVEST, DARKTHRONE) in Oslo.

VREID's music is being described as a continuation of the sound and style Hváll had created with WINDIR and ULCUS, but with "its own personal sound — a mixture of the ambience of WINDIR, the rawness of Norwegian black metal and the rocking groove of MOTÖRHEAD." Rounding out VREID's lineup is a guitarist named Ese — a close friend of the VREID members for years, and co-engineer on WINDIR's "Likferd" album.
