WARGASM: Reunion Show Confirmed
June 28, 2004After a ten-year hiatus, Boston's thrash pioneers WARGASM will return to unleash their unique brand of power metal on Saturday, September 18 at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, Ma.
Billed as the "First Annual Rawkshow", proceeds from the event will benefit the Boston-based non-profit organization, Rawkstars, Inc., which offers music education programs for kids.
"We've been approached several times over the years about doing a reunion show and have discussed celebrating the band's history in a big way at some point", says WARGASM lead guitarist Rich Spillberg, "but never felt the scenario was perfect for us. That is, until now."
"Playing a show for Rawkstars at a venue like The Middle East was just too good to pass up. We'd been waiting for a good enough reason to get together again, and this is definitely it," says Bob Mayo, vocalist and bass player for the group. Mayo, who currently authoring a book about the early days of the now-legendary Boston metal scene, views this as a chance to get together with his old band mates one more time, while supporting an organization with an important mission.
"Music just about saved my life when I was younger; it helped me through some very difficult times," he says. "Who knows what I would have turned to if I didn't have my guitar? Every kid should have a chance to get involved in music. The First Annual Rawkshow isn't just about turning people on to WARGASM; it's about turning kids onto making music in general. We can maybe affect someone's life and celebrate what music has done for us at the same time. That's amazing."
Tickets for the event are available through Ticketmaster at (617) 931-2000, by visiting Ticketmaster.com or by calling the Middle East box office at (617) 492-9181.
