Warrant Issued For Former WARRANT Singer
March 3, 2010According to TMZ.com, a warrant was issued for former WARRANT singer Jani Lane last week after he failed to show up to two court appearances connected to his 2009 DUI conviction.
Lane was scheduled to appear in court on February 23 to show the judge he's completed his alcohol classes and community service — but he never showed.
The court date was rescheduled for February 24... but Lane missed that one as well.
TMZ.com spoke to Lane's lawyer, who said the singer has been in the hospital and won't be able to make it to court until next week.
Last July, Lane pled no contest to one count of misdemeanor DUI stemming from an incident where he hit a parked car back in June 2009.
The 45-year-old singer was busted on June 17, 2009 when he allegedly hit a parked car in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. Lane refused to take a sobriety test.
When asked in a May 18, 2009 interview with "The Johnny Dare Morning Show" how he managed to "get straight," Jani replied, "It's just a matter of deciding you're done, in my opinion. I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really, really and truly you have to go, 'You know what? I'm done with this. I don't like feeling like this, I don't like living like this.' And it's also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you're unconscious."
Lane originally left WARRANT in 2002 to pursue a solo career. He released a solo album, "Back Down to One", in 2003, but shortly after was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. He also appeared on VH1's reality series "Celebrity Fit Club".
WARRANT announced in September 2008 that it was splitting with Jani Lane six months after the band first reunited with the troubled vocalist. He has since been replaced by Robert Mason (LYNCH MOB, CRY OF LOVE, BIG COCK).
