Swedish black metallers WATAIN have been confirmed for this year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 31 - August 2, 2008 in Wacken, Germany. The festival billing is shaping up as follows:
AS I LAY DYING
AT THE GATES
AXEL RUDI PELL
BEFORE THE DAWN
CHILDREN OF BODOM
DREAM OF AN OPIUM EATER
ENEMY OF THE SUN
Video footage of WATAIN performing a cover of DISSECTION's "The Somberlain" at the VI Extreme Metal Fest on June 9, 2007 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil can be viewed below (video clip shot by Leonardo M Fonseca).
WATAIN's third full-length album, "Sworn to the Dark", was released in February 2007 via Season of Mist.
After the release of the highly acclaimed "Casus Luciferi" album in 2003 and the tour with DISSECTION in 2004, WATAIN has been forging and wielding material that clearly reveals their true potential as craftsmen of lethal black metal magic. The recording of the new album took place at the infamous Necromorbus Studio (FUNERAL MIST, MALIGN, OFERMOD, etc.).
