Watch: KING DIAMOND Joins MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE On Stage In San Antonio

Danish heavy metal legend King Diamond, who fronts both KING DIAMOND and MERCYFUL FATE, made a special guest appearance during MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE's nearly sold-out concert Saturday night (September 12) at the massive Alamodome Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE frontman Gerard Way welcomed King — a longtime Texas resident — to the stage to perform the song "Mama" along with Marianne, who is an opera singer. Gerard introduced King — who did not sport his signature makeup, and instead wore sunglasses, with his top hat and the black bishop's coat from MERCYFUL FATE — by saying: "Finally! Some real royalty in the house. Anyone can be a dictator, but not everyone can be a king. The funny thing is, about not being British, also, like, when you go to England, if you're American, you can't be a knight, so what-fucking-ever. I don't care about that. This guy's a king. He don't give a shit." At the end of the song, Way and his MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE bandmates crouched down while King knighted them, a ceremony that ended with flames bursting behind them.

During the current tour, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE is performing "The Black Parade", the band's concept album about a man dying of cancer as he nears the end of his life. For this tour, instead of literalizing that story, the band created the dystopian hellscape of Draag to parody fascist dictatorships. A "Great Immortal Dictator" rules over Draag, portrayed in video clips as a John Waters type with a pencil mustache and a black cowboy hat, seated on a throne.

At last night's concert, Way hinted that MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE would make a new studio album — its first in more than 15 years.

"Just know that, like, we've kind of really always wanted to make another record, so we hope that life allows us to do that," he told the crowd. "'Cause you guys, honestly, you guys kept us alive so long. You guys deserve another record. I don't know when it'll be. But it'll be awesome."

If it materializes, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE's next album will be the band's first full-length since 2010's "Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys".

Since reforming, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE has released just one standalone single, 2022's "The Foundations Of Decay", and has concentrated on touring.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE's "The Black Parade" 2026 tour has included dates across North America and Europe.

An expanded 20th-anniversary reissue of "The Black Parade" will be made available on October 23 via Reprise Records. The new set will contain the original album along with six bonus tracks — including three live recordings from a 200-capacity 2007 club gig in Hoboken, New Jersey, and the never-before-released B-side "Someone Out There Loves You". "The Black Parade" reissue will be accompanied by three new pieces of art from original cover artist James Jean.

Released in 2006, "The Black Parade" was certified four times platinum in the U.S., while its lead single, "Welcome To The Black Parade", reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been certified five times platinum.
